Seven people were killed early Wednesday evening in Cortland County when a minivan they were riding in was hit by a trailer. Among the dead are four young children.
The accident happened on Route 13 around 6 p.m. in the rural town of Truxton, about 25 miles south of Syracuse.
Authorities say a trailer loaded with crushed cars disconnected from a truck and slammed into the minivan.
Cortland County Coroner Whitney Meeker tells The Associated Press Thursday morning that all seven victims, including four children under 10, were local residents. Three adults were in their early 20's.
