Chief Justice Roberts: "It is great to be back home"

Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts made an appearance in Western New York Friday. The Buffalo native spoke at theRobert H. Jackson Centerin Jamestown.  The Center is celebrating its 10th anniversary.  Roberts appeared on the porch of the center Friday morning under sunny skies to deliver a speech heard live on WBFO, hosted by News Director Jim Ranney. 

"My only response to the professors introduction is that it is great to be back home," said Chief Roberts.

About 2,000 people gathered outside the Center's lawn to listen to Roberts.

Chief Justice John Roberts spoke to a large crowd in Jamestown Friday morning.

The Jackson Center works to advance the ideals of Robert Jackson, who served on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1941 to 1945. Jackson served as chief prosecutor in the Nazi Nuremberg case.

During his speech, Chief Justice Roberts reflected on the history of Jackson and other past Chief Justices of the United States.

"Justice Jackson was a wonderful advocate in his day, and I believe he would be no less so in today's changed environment," said Roberts.

Roberts encourage members of the bench and attorneys of the Bar must aim efforts at working together called "rule of law."
