A traffic accident Friday afternoon has taken the life of a local police officer. Fredrick Garassi III, a 24-year-old Angola resident, was riding his motorcycle Friday afternoon when he was struck by a car. That vehicle was operated by 65-year-old Lorraine Pelc. No charges have been filed, but Hamburg Police are continuing to investigate.
Garassi was a two year member of the Evans Police Department and had just received a full-time post.
He was recently decorated for his work.
