The new John R. Oishei Children's Hospital has received a major gift from a Buffalo-based apparel maker. New Era is donating $2 million to complete a special lounge for patients and their families. The donation will help complete the New Era Pavilion in the main lobby which will include cafe seating and a performance area for special events.
CEO Christopher Koch, whose great-grandfather founded New Era in 1920, says the company is committed to giving back to the community.
"Our contribution to Women and Children's Hospital, we felt, was a natural fit because like New Era, the hospital prides themselves on being leaders in innovation and are known worldwide for the work they do," Koch said.
The John R. Oishei Children's Hospital, going up at the corner of Main and High Streets on the downtown Medical Campus, is scheduled to open in early 2016.
