Local runner shares Boston Marathon experience

Photo from WNY Utlra Website

Daven Oskvig of Amherst  sought to mark his birthday Monday by running in his first Boston Marathon. Though he crossed the finished line more than hour before the tragic explosions, Oskvig offers a memorable account of a day that has shaken the country. By finishing the race in 2:45, Oskvigwas already driving back to Western New York at the time of explosions.

In a morning interview with WBFO News, he described the wide range of emotions that he felt as he journeyed home. Still, he offers the hopeful note that the "solidarity" of the running community will continue to move forward despite Monday's events.

According to Oskvig,  the local running community has already organized a special run on Sunday at Delaware Park in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy.
