Arrest made in Elmwood bomb scare

Buffalo Police have charged a Kenmore man for allegedly placing a fake bomb along Elmwood Avenue in the midst of the Monday morning rush hour. 36-year-old Titus Tallchief has been charged with a felony in connection with the incident.

Police closed Elmwood from Hertel Avenue to Grote Street around 7:30 a.m. Monday after responding to a report that a suspicious package left outside the former FWS Warehouse building on Elmwood.

Buffalo Police spokesman Mike DeGeorge tells WBFO News the Erie County Bomb Squad unit was called in and removed the package just after 8 a.m.

"They were able to locate the package or device and quickly determined that it was a fake device," said DeGeorge.

Officials have not revealed the contents of the package.
