New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman toured a Rochester gun show on Saturday. The visit came on the heels of voluntary agreements by 26 gun show operators to abide by new guidelines for sales procedures at such venues in the state. The guidelines will assure that a required background check is performed for every transaction that occurs at such shows.

Schneiderman applauded the gun show operators for their willingness in agreeing to the procedures that are designed to keep firearms out of the hands of felons, terrorists and individuals who have displayed dangerous signs of mental illness. "The cooperation we have seen shows that public safety does not need to be divisive or a partisan issue...I look forward to continuing to work with [gun show operators] to accomplish our shared goal of making communities safer," the Attorney General said.
