Buffalo Police made their first arrest under New York State's tough new control  control law. Buffalo Police arrested 18-year-old Darquane McDuffie of Buffalo after police say he jumped out of a vehicle, led police on a short foot pursuit and attempted to throw a loaded handgun away before he was apprehended.

McDuffie was apprehended in the city's Broadway-Fillmore District in the 100 block of Stanislaus Street just after 1 a.m.  Sunday.

McDuffie was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, unlawful possession of marijuana and obstruction of governmental administration.

McDuffie attempted to throw away a 9mm gun with a 12-round magazine.

Under the SAFE Act - clips are limited to 7-rounds.  Officers allegedly also found 10-bags of marijuana hidden in McDuffie's pants leg.
