The Amherst Town Board and Industrial Development Agency have given final approval to the much criticized construction of a hotel on Main Street in Snyder. Plans have been hotly debated concerning the construction of a Hyatt Place Hotel adjacent to the existing Lord Amherst Hotel. Local residents have argued against the project, citing privacy and property value issues. The planning board easily approved the project, and the IDA will provide tax breaks exceeding $1 million.
Residents have vowed to continue to fight the development.
