Police in Amherst say a school bus carrying 12 elementary-school children struck a tree during an accident that involved three vehicles Wednesday morningTwo girls from the bus, ages 12 and 13, were taken to a hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.
Preliminary reports say a jeep apparently ran a stop sign, collided with the bus and then crashed into a parked vehicle. The full-size bus slammed head-on into a large tree. The jeep's driver also was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The students were on their way to St. Gregory The Great school.
