Early morning drug raids on Buffalo's East Side Tuesday netted ten arrests. The crackdown targeted drug trafficking and violent crime in a section of the city. Federal agents teamed with Buffalo Police and area SWAT teams, raiding ten homes along Box and Winslow Avenues and French and Phyllis Streets.
Three of the suspects arrested were charged federally, including includes 38-year-old Mashi Philips, who police consider a primary cocaine distributor.
Buffalo Drug Enforcement Administration head agent Dale Kasprzyk says agents confiscated assault weapons, including one loaded with 29 rounds.
"This was a violent, dangerous group of people. They had a lot of guns. In total, we seized two AK-47s, five handguns and a shotgun," Kasprzyk said.
Seven of those arrested face state charges. A fourth suspect wanted on federal charges remains at large.
