The former special agent in charge of the Buffalo FBI office, Bernie Tolbert, will reportedly run for mayor.
According to The Buffalo News, Tolbert has told key supporters of his intentions to challenge fellow Democrat Byron Brown for the city's top elected post.
Brown has yet to officially announce his candidacy to seek a third term as Buffalo mayor.
Republican Sergio Rodriguez announced his candidacy earlier this year and has been active raising money and seeking support.
While Mayor Brown has $1.1 million in his campaign treasury, a Tolbert supporter told the Buffalo News that he believes his candidate could raise similar funding.
