Buffalo's City Mission says it will continue its 'code blue' through Friday as the frigid weather continues.
City Mission Executive Director Stuart Harper tells WBFO News the mission had more than 40 members of Buffalo's homeless community seek shelter Monday night at their downtown facility at 100 East Tupper Street.
"They spent the night and they got something good to eat and they were actually able to talk with some of the outreach workers to provide them with shelter, if we're not the right place, then getting them to the right place," Harper said.
Harper says it is imperative that homeless men, women and families seek shelter from the freezing conditions.
"It could be catastrophic for them," Harper said. "The cold is one thing, but then when the wind starts whipping it brings that eight degrees down to below zero."
Harper says he expects the numbers of those seeking shelter to increase this week. He says no one will be turned away.
