Brown builds campaign treasury

With an Albany fundraiser this week adding to his million dollar campaign treasury, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown appears ready to run for a third term in November.

According to Buffalo News Political Reporter Bob McCarthy, at least two possible candidates are reviewing a daunting political landscape as they weigh their chances in challenging Brown this fall.

Republican Sergio Rodriguez would face a difficult climb. As a political novice, Rodriguez needs to build name recognition, but his party affiliation may be his biggest problem.

As McCarthy points out, a Republican has not been elected as Buffalo mayor since 1961.

Bernie Tolbert, former special-agent-in-charge of the Buffalo office of the FBI, is considering a run for the Democratic nomination, though he has made no official proclamation.
