By adding a new focus on gun control, Governor Cuomo has sparked massive interest in his State of the State Address.
According to WBFO Albany Correspondent Karen Dewitt, the Cuomo Administration worked feverishly over recent days to pass new legislation that would have strengthened the state's ban on assault weapons.
In a conversation on WBFO's Morning Edition, Dewitt said the move is very much in character for the governor who has spent the last two years aggressively pushing his legislative agenda.
This particular issue, Dewitt notes, may also be an attempt to expand Cuomo's national profile as he targets a Presidential run in 2016.
