New Year's Eve Ball Drop in its 25th year

Plans are in place for the City of Buffalo's 25th annual New Year's celebration. Keeping with tradition, the countdown to 2013 will be marked in Roosevelt Plaza near Iskalo Development's Electric Tower. Mayor Byron Brown says the Ball Drop is the second largest celebration of its kind outside of New York City.

Paul Iskalo says the all-white terracota building has been a part of the city's skyline for 100 years.

"It's an architectural gem. We look at our ownership of it as a stewardship of the historic architecture here. It's something the community enjoys and to be able to feature it on New Year's Eve is great. We're happy to be a part of it," Iskalo said.

The family-friendly celebration gets underway at 10:30 p.m. New Year's Eve with live musical entertainment from Caitlin & the Jaime Moses Band.

The night is capped off with a large fireworks display over downtown Buffalo.
