Recovery from the devastating tragedy that struck in Connecticut has extended its reach to Western New York.

A member of the local Red Cross has been sent to Newtown to assist with the emotional recovery that so many will be struggling with. Tara Hughes acts as the New York State Disaster Mental Health Chief, and she will be leading a team that will be available for grieving families and members of the community who need help in dealing with the tragedy.

Twenty-six students, teachers and administrators were gunned down at the Sandy Hook Elementary School by a lone assailant on Friday.
