The animal rights group PETA has posted a reward for information leading to the person or persons responsible for a starving dog. An emaciated pit bull was found late last week at Kensington and Fillmore Avenue in Buffalo. Two Rural-Metro paramedics rescued the dog.
Martin Mersereau, director of PETA's cruelty and investigation department, says the group is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever is responsible.
"We received a number of phone calls over the last week when this poor dog was found from people who were up in arms, and rightfully so," said Merserseau.
According to the paramedics, the dog was found outside the Anderson Inner City Animal Hospital. The SPCA of Erie County is investigating and continues to care for the dog.
Temperatures had dipped to freezing mark when the female dog was found. She was essentially skin and bones and nearly froze to death.
