The City of Buffalo is among a consortia of the state's poorer school districts that will benefit from a federally funded Internet education program.
The Virtual Advanced Placement Program will provide students greater access for advanced placement courses. These courses assist with college preparation, and they will be coordinated to complement classroom instruction. The state Education Department has announced that more than $17 million in federal Race to the Top funds will support the program.
Grants will be available for an 18 month period.
