Waste Management of Western New York is facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit filed by the Town of Grand Island.
The suit stems from a contract dispute that arose in 2007. The suit claims that efforts to renew a garbage collection agreement with the firm were rejected by the company, a move the town contends was a breach of contract. The town is seeking $2.4 million in damages to cover expenses tied to forming an emergency agreement with Allied Waste Services.
