True Bethel expands housing efforts

There's more housing coming to an area on Buffalo's East Side.

True Bethel Baptist Church has just split off part of its enormous parking lot to be the site of a senior citizens housing complex.

The church built three houses around the corner and has just sold the third.
Across the street, the D.E.C. spent $8 million cleaning up the site of a lead recycling plant and the church is building housing there.

The $5 million project will have 30 apartments.

Ellicott District Councilmember Darius Pridgen is True Bethel pastor.

"We know that there's a demand," Pridgen told WBFO News.

"We have no doubt that people want to live in the city of Buffalo. Especially those who have low-and-medium incomes, they want to live in adequate housing. These will be brand new houses with a small community center on the grounds

Pridgen says these are housing units which are comfortable, warm in winter and cool in summer, and are just good places to live.
