DWI charge invokes Leandra's Law

WBFO News file photo

An accident in Pendleton late Friday night has led to a DWI charge under Leandra's Law.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office reports that Louis Friedly caused an accident on South Transit Road by failing to yield the right-of-way to another vehicle. Friedly was found to be intoxicated and, since his two sons, aged 13 and 17, were in the car, Leandra's Law came into play.

No one in Friedly's car was injured.

The other driver, Thomas DiPasquele, was treated at ECMC for non-life threatening injuries.
