Concerns over importing electrical power into the New York City area from Canada were expressed at a hearing in Somerset on Saturday.
Transmission Developers, Incorporated is proposing a $2.2 billion plan to draw power to the Big Apple from Quebec. The firm claims the initiative would help the state boost energy transmission from upstate power plants. The New York Business Council believes the plan would close 12 of those plants.
State Senator George Maziarz called the meeting to hear both arguments.
