Residents in many Western New York areas were affected by Saturday's stormy weather.
Trees were toppled, power lines downed and homes damaged. Various reports of tornadoes have not been confirmed, but experts do agree that a microburst struck Connecticut Street on Buffalo's West Side, causing significant damage to four homes and displacing a number of residents. A microburst causes straight-line winds whose destructive effects can be mistaken for a tornado.
Winds during the microburst reached 65 miles per hour, creating a trail of debris 145 yards long and 75 yards wide.
