U.S. Coast Guard officials say quick actions by the crew of a Buffalo-based rescue boat saved the lives of three people aboard a sinking vessel on the Niagara River.
Officials say the Coast Guard station on the Lake Erie waterfront received a call early Thursday afternoon from a woman who said her boat was sinking and she needed immediate assistance.
The woman was unable to give her exact location but said she had just floated under the Peace Bridge.
Te Coast Guard station's 25-foot rescue boat was launched and its four-man crew located the half-sunk boat in the river.
Two adults and a child were rescued from the sinking boat, which was towed to a Buffalo marina.
No injuries were reported.
