Thruway toll hikes represent the latest issue on which Governor Andrew Cuomo and Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli have opposing views.
Earlier this week, DiNapoli criticized the Thruway Authority's apparent intention to raise truck tolls by 45 percent.
DiNapoli raised the possibility that his office would audit the toll road's finances.
The Buffalo News reports the Cuomo administration is less than supportive of DiNapoli's position. A spokesman openly wondered why the state's financial watchdog had not been more aware of Thruway mismanagement and its sliding financial position.
