The man responsible for a brutal murder nearly twenty years ago has been sentenced in Erie County court.
Fifty-four year old James Fountain will serve 23 years to life for the murder and dismemberment of then 29 year old Cynthia Epps. The crime left two young girls without their mother. DNA evidence reopened the cold case and led to Fountain's arrest.
Fountain does have a mental handicap and does not deny his involvement in the crime.
He has served a previous prison term for attempted rape.
