A native Western New Yorker, serving in Afghanistan, has been seriously injured.
Twenty-one year old Cody Raymond Coopenberg of Holley was refueling a generator last weekend when it exploded. The soldier suffered burns over 60 percent of his body. After treatments in Germany, he has been transferred to military hospital in Texas.
He was stationed at a base in the Kandahar province.
He is married with an 18 month old child.
