Former Wyoming County SPCA manager dies

Police in the Village of Attica are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 58-year-old Susan Davila, the former manager of the Wyoming County SPCA.

Attica Police were called to a home at 74 Exchange Street Saturday afternoon on a report of a sick person.  The call was made by a family member. Officers found Davila unresponsive.  She was taken to Wyoming County Community Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy.  They say there is no indication of foul play.

Davila came under fire earlier this year when a police raid at the Wyoming shelter found more than 500 cats living in poor conditions.  Some were found inside walls.

Davila and another woman, Janet Foisset, were facing charges including animal cruelty, failure to provide sustenance, and tampering with evidence.  Both pleaded not guilty.  A felony hearing was scheduled for this week.
