A graph of COVID-19 positivity in Niagara County from March 1, 2020-Sept. 1, 2021 shows the recent rise in cases.

Niagara County has announced it is implementing a mandatory mask policy in all county buildings for both employees and visitors, regardless of vaccination status. Employees can remove their masks when working at their desks, as long as they maintain social distancing.

In a release, Niagara County Legislature Chair Becky Wydysh said the move comes in response to the county COVID-19 positivity rate transition into the high transmission level.

Wydysh encouraged all organizations in the county to consider mask policies, and said lawmakers will continue to review and amend the policy based on data. She also strongly encouraged those who have not yet been vaccinated to do so.
