Every county in the state, including the five boroughs of New York, has reached COVID-19 transmission levels high enough that theU.S. Centers for Disease Control and Preventionrecommends masks be worn indoors, even if you're vaccinated.

New York State's positivity rate is 3% as of Sunday. But in Western New York, rates are mostly higher:

  • Chautauqua County 3.8%
  • Cattaraugus County 3.3%
  • Niagara County 4.9%
  • Allegany County 3.7
  • Erie County 2.9%

The seven-day positivity rates for Western New York counties are higher:

  • Chautauqua County 9.2%
  • Cattaraugus County 5.0%
  • Erie County 3.6%
  • Niagara 3.5%
  • Allegany County 3.2%
