Gov. Andrew Cuomo provided some good news in his pandemic update Saturday. Hospitalizations across the state have dropped below 5,000 for the first time since early December. The state's positivity rate has also dropped below 3%, it's lowest level since November. In Western New York, 159 patients remain hospitalized with COVID-19 and the local positivity rate is below 2%.
Though the numbers are improving, Cuomo urged vigilance abiding by safety protocols, and he said the state is prepared to escalate vaccinations as soon as more doses are available.
