Niagara County reports 151 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend

Niagara County on Monday morning reported 151 new cases of COVID-19 since the previous update Friday morning.

County health officials said there are now 342 active cases, with eight in the hospital. There have been 102 deaths recorded since the pandemic began, out of a total of 2,459 positive tests. Just over 136,000 people have been tested.

Those cases include 47 students diagnosed at Niagara University over the past week, with 160 students now in quarantine.

Health officials said contact tracing showed a lot of the spread was due to Halloween parties that didn't follow proper protocols.
