Catholic Health has joined with some of its fellow healthcare providers in announcing job furloughs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Noting multimillion dollar losses each week due to the suspension of non-coronavirus services, such as elective surgeries, and the drop in volume at primary care centers and other specialty clinics, Catholic Health said up to 1,200 management and non-management personnel will be affected by a first phase of furloughs, set to take effect on Sunday.
They will re-evaluated in 30 days and job benefits will continue to be provided. The furloughs will not affect patient care or COVID-19-related services.
Catholic Health also said it will begin phasing in elective surgeries at Mt. Saint Mary's Hospital, which is in Niagara County where such restrictions have been lifted.
