New COVID-19 testing site opens in Buffalo's University District

Buffalo and Erie County Public Libraries
The Leroy Coles Libray will be conducting COVID-19 testing.

Kaleida Health has announced the addition of a third COVID-19 testing clinic, located on Buffalo's East Side at the Leroy Coles Library.

The library is in the 14215 zip code, which Kaleida said has the highest number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Erie County. The clinic will begin operations Friday, with operating hours 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

It is being opened in conjunction with the African American Health Disparities Task Force, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, the Erie County Department of Health, Erie County Legislature Chairwoman April Baskin, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library.

“I am grateful to the County Executive for listening to and addressing the concerns I brought to him when my community was suffering, and I’m equally thankful to Kaleida for being such willing partners,” stated Baskin.

Baskin will be talking with reporters about the situation in her district Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Mark Wozniak, WBFO's local All Things Considered host, has been at WBFO since mid-1978.
