A coalition of organizations that include the U.S. Department of Justice, Erie County, Kids Escaping Drugs and a number of local colleges, among others, is sponsoring the session titled, "Our Community, Our Epidemic: Turning Drug Awareness into Action." The goal is to teach people about the issue and create an action plan to deal with the area's growing drug problem.
"Professionals, experts in the area of addiction, in all areas of addiction from the law enforcement side we have the D.E.A. and and the U.S. Attorney's Office," says Jodie Altman of Kids Escaping Drugs speaking about the organizations that will be in attendance for the forum this Saturday. "We have our medical director speaking on the brain chemistry of addiction. We have a treatment expert speaking on all levels of treatment that are available in this area so that people that don't know what we have to offer, will learn. We have somebody from the Bills who's been affected by addiction coming to tell their story. Hopefully, we can come up with an action plan altogether on how to address it."
The session will take place this Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Lancaster High School. You can find out more by clicking here.
