Medical marijuana to be grown by five companies in New York State

New York State continues to make strides towards authorizing cannabis for medical treatment. Many are jumping on the medical marijuana industry band wagon.

On Friday, state health officials announced five companies that will become distributors when the program begins next year. Three are experienced organizations in other states. Each of the companies will operate one greenhouse facility and four dispensaries in New York State. To prevent substance abuse the marijuana produced will be non-smokeable. Instead it will be in a form, such as oil which can be ingested or vaporized.
