New home energy efficiency initiative launched for Earth Day

Thomas O'Neil-White

Members of PUSH Buffalo’s PUSH Green and PUSH Clean Heat teams joined New York State Sen. Tim Kennedy for the Earth Day announcement of Let’s Bring it Home, a community-based outreach program to increase access to the benefits of state’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

With the ambition of having the state lead the world in green energy use, Kennedy said the work must start at the local level:

“New York State has put itself in a lead role on the national level as well as on an international level,” he said. “So now, it is our job and our obligation to put in place initiatives and requirements across the state so that we meet those goals that are so lofty here in New York so that we become the environmental leader in our nation that we all expect ourselves to become with the passage of the CLCPA.”

The Let’s Bring it Home program increases access to free home energy assessments, energy efficiency services and renewable heating and cooling technologies, all of which will save energy from home to home.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Thomas moved to Western New York at the age of 14. A graduate of Buffalo State College, he majored in Communications Studies and was part of the sports staff for WBNY. When not following his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats and Boston Red Sox, Thomas enjoys coaching youth basketball, reading Tolkien novels and seeing live music.
