A "Do Not Drink" advisory has been continued for the water supply in the Village of Mayville.
Chautauqua County Public Health Director Christine Schuyler, in a release Wednesday, said the advisory, first enacted last week Thursday, remains in effect, but noted that much progress has been made to fix the situation.
A new well was put into service on Monday, and village officials have been flushing the water system and replacing the water in the village storage tank. Once that is complete, residents will be instructed to flush their household plumbing.
Bottled water is being distributed to village residents and businesses from now through Saturday 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Town of Chautauqua Highway Building, plus in the Tops parking lot in Mayville 2:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.
