Town of Hamburg Police report, despite the efforts of first responders on scene, a man pulled from the waters of Lake Erie Wednesday night has passed away at Mercy Hospital.

Police identified the man Robert Maccubbin, 50, of Hamburg.

Police are investigating what happened on the lake in the area behind Hoaks Restaurant about 8 p.m. Police say they were notified of a man in a raft appearing to be in distress.

Police and water rescue were dispatched and the man was recovered from the water. EMS arrived on scene and transported him to Mercy Hospital, where he later died.
