Conservation officials inviting public comment on potential hunting rule changes

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York conservation officials are inviting public comment on potential hunting rule changes for the 2016-17 season.

The Department of Environmental Conservation has created a new website, Public Input on Hunting Regulations, to improve public awareness of ideas being considered for future hunting rule changes.

Two changes related to deer and bear hunting are described on the website now. One would allow junior hunters to take bears during the Youth Firearms Deer Hunt. The second concerns antlerless deer in certain wildlife management units.

The ideas aren't formal proposals, just options being considered. The website includes an email address to send comments on the ideas described.
