Jeff Gingerich is the new president of St. Bonaventure University.

St. Bonaventure University has announced the hiring of Jeff Gingerich as the school's 22nd president. He will take over in Olean on June 20.

Gingerich currently serves as provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs at the University of Scranton.

A native of Iowa, he will be introduced to the campus community at a 12:30 p.m. press conference Wednesday in the Rigas Theater of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on the Olean campus.

The selection of Gingerich by St. Bonaventure's Board of Trustees was unanimous, after a nine-month search process led by a committee comprising university trustees, administrators, faculty, staff and students.

He will succeed Joseph Zimmer, who has served as Bona's acting president since Dr. Dennis DePerro passed away on March 1 of last year. The University of Scranton suffered a similar loss with the death of its president, Fr. Scott Pilarz, on March 10 of last year. Gingerich served as acting president there for four months.
