Williamsville District chooses Darren Brown-Hall as new superintendent, vote set for next week

The Williamsville School District has chosen Dr. Darren Brown-Hall to potentially become its new superintendent. All that is left is a school board vote on Thursday to confirm his hiring.

Teresa Leatherbarrow, the Board of Education president, confirmed this in a statement to WBFO on Friday. Brown-Hall is currently second-in-command at Buffalo Public Schools, where he is the chief of staff.

The 47-year-old Brown-Hall will become the first Black superintendent in the suburbs, as well as the first openly gay superintendent in the county, according to The Buffalo News. The Buffalo News was the first to break the story, citing unnamed sources.

According to Brown-Hall's LinkedIn page, his four degrees were all received at area colleges. He has a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University at Buffalo, a Master's of Business Administration degree from Canisius College, and got both his Master of Education in Mathematics and his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from Buffalo State.

Brown-Hall was one of three finalists for the seat, contending against current interim superintendent John McKenna, and another another individual not in the area, according to The News.
