Local teachers are getting high marks from the National Teachers Hall of Fame. The Emporia, KS-based non-profit hasannounced its five inductees for the Class of 2020 and two of them are from Western New York.
Thomas Knab is a K-4 Visual Arts educator at Dodge Elementary School in the Williamsville Central School District and Andrew Beiter is a Springville Middle School 8th-grade Social Studies and American History teacher in the Springville-Griffith Central School District.
Knab and Beiter join Melissa Collins of the John P. Freeman Optional School in Memphis, TN, Donna Gradel of Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, OK and Jamil Siddiqui of East Bridgewater Junior High and High School in East Bridgewater, MA as 2020 inductees.
The National Teachers Hall of Fame was founded in 1989 by Emporia State University and others. Each year since 1992, five career teachers with 20 or more years of full-time pre-K-12 teaching are selected. The selections are usually made in March, but were postponed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
