Buffalo Teachers Federation President Philip Rumore is calling for the removal of the city school administrators in charge of the district's "reopening committee."

The committee was formed to detail the city's school reopening plans due to the state by Friday.

In a memo issued Thursday, Rumore said the committee has had only six meetings, has been secretive and has failed to provide details of their plans. He added that the school engineers, who are critical to cleaning and sanitizing the schools, have been excluded from the process, as have other stakeholders.

Elementary and secondary subcommittees have only gathered once each, and other subcommittees including academics, scheduling, social emotional learning, transportation, special education, multilingual, technology, and health and safety were only created this week, and have not met.

Mark Wozniak, WBFO's local All Things Considered host, has been at WBFO since mid-1978.
