Daemen postpones commencement, as 2 students test positive for COVID-19

Daemen College has announced that two of its Distance Education students have tested positive for Covid-19.

One is based in Amherst, the other at the school's Brooklyn Branch campus downstate.

They are the first confirmed cases in the Daemen community, but since both students are in fully online programs, they were not exposed directly to the Daemen community.

Meanwhile, the school is following the lead of the University at Buffalo and Buffalo State College in postponing its spring commencement, scheduled for May 16.

Daemen said its undergraduate graduation will take place at noon on Aug. 15 at Kleinhans Music Hall, with the graduate ceremony following at 4:30 p.m.
