Dr. Rosemary Bradley has submitted her resignation as the principal of Jamestown High School. The Jamestown Post-Journal reported that several unions voted no confidence in Bradley following a large fight at the high school in early November, which prompted a police response.
"It is with great sadness that I step aside so that teachers can focus on students and not on me," Bradley tweeted Thursday. "I leave knowing I can hold my head high; that this was a school unable to embrace my vision for the future. I’ll look for a place where I can join with the staff to move forward."
In 2018, Bradley was also known for her "Musings of a School Leader," an online journal about her "life as a public school administrator" on her Twitter feed.
She will step down effective Jan. 3 and Assistant Principal Dana Williams will serve as interim principal through the end of the school year in June. Williams has been the assistant at both Jamestown High School and Jefferson Middle School for more than a decade.
Plans to search for a permanent replacement have not yet been announced.
Bradley's resignation was accepted by the Jamestown Board of Education at a special meeting. The board also appointed former intern Allyson Smith, a special education teacher at Persell Middle School, as dean of students.
