Canisius, ECC expand their partnership

Audrey Browka

Canisius College and Erie Community College are partnering to offer student housing.

Canisius President John Hurley says it's a "win-win" for his college to lease about 65 of its Delavan Townhouses to ECC students. Beginning in August, this new residential option at Main Street and Delavan Avenue in Buffalo will initially focus on athletes and international students and is for one year.

ECC President Dan Hocoy said the two colleges "are open to expanding that option as the demand warrants” and will allow his community college students to have the "full college experience" at the private Buffalo college, including access to all Canisius facilities and services. ECC will add a shuttle stop at Canisius to provide  transportation to students living in the Delavan Townhouses.

The new housing partnership expands upon the dual-admissions agreement recently signed between Canisius and ECC, which allows qualified students to complete their associate’s degrees at ECC and continue their coursework at Canisius, where they can earn bachelor’s degrees in an additional two years.
