More fallout from the report on student-teacher relationships at Nichols School.
According to media reports out of Ohio and locally, Nichols' former headmaster - who was cited in the report for not doing enough about the inappropriate relationships - has resigned from his current job because he has become a "distraction."
Richard Bryan was hired in December 2016 as headmaster at the private University School for boys outside Cleveland, OH. It was the same school from which Bryan graduated in 1970.
His appointment was announced with enthusiasm on a webpage that has since been blocked. Bryan also has been removed from the University School's web directory.
When the 85-page Nichols report became public earlier this month, Bryan was cited for failing to recognize "red flags" of sexual relationships between students and teachers. Still, the Plain Dealer reports that Chris Smythe, chairman of the University School trustees, backed Bryan in a letter sent to parents and alumni.
The Buffalo News reports, however, that Bryan saw his "presence" as a "threat to the outstanding reputation" of University School, so it was with "extraordinary sadness" that he decided to resign.
