The Buffalo Parent-Teacher Organization (BPTO) has issued a new set of goals to deal with several major issues from reducing class size to improving family engagement.  WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley met with Co-chairs Larry Scott and Roberta Kates and Secretary Kate Haq. They believe the once failing city school district is now headed in the 'right direction'.

Here is the list of goals issued by the BPTO for the 2016-17 Buffalo Public School District school year:

  • Parent & Family Engagement
  • Increase Membership
  • Improve structure & function of Membership Meetings
  • Advocate for improved district policies
  • Identify speakers, organization, activities to match goals and timeline; set timeline for year ahead
